Why we need members
We need members as our strength lies in the diversity and volume of voices we represent. Members are asked to share their lived experiences and highlight challenges in order to help shape services that truly meet the needs of children and young people with SEND. The more members we have, the more accurately we can reflect the realities of families and advocate for meaningful change.

Membership is free for everyone, with no expectations or demands on your time. However, if you’re passionate about improving SEND services in Derby and have the capacity to get more involved, we warmly encourage you to consider becoming a representative. Your voice and support can help us drive meaningful change and make a real difference for families across the city.

Become a Member
Derby SEND Voice welcomes both parent carers and professionals as members, recognising the unique value each group brings to our community.
Parent carers are at the heart of our forum, and their lived experience is central to shaping our work. They are invited to share their insights, take part in feedback surveys, and help influence local services based on their real life journeys.
Professionals, while not eligible to contribute lived experience unless they are also a parent carer, play an important role by offering valuable perspectives and helping families access support through signposting and collaboration.
To be a member of Derby SEND Voice, you must be the parent or carer of a child or young person with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability (SEND) aged 0–25 and live in the Derby City area.
Your information will be held securely and not shared with any other organisations as per requirements of General Data
Protection Regulations (GDPR).
